There’s no telling what excitement next week will bring.” That was the positive note I ended on last week and boy, was I wrong. This week was a very slow and disappointing week at the box office. In fact, this week had the lowest box office totals of the year. Hollywood’s most famous bad-asses dominated the weekend once again in The Expendables 2, while this week’s new releases didn’t even break the top ten.
1. The Expendables 2
Holding on to the number one spot this week is The Expendables 2. Even though the film is still number one, it saw a steep drop in ticket sales, only bringing in $13.4 million this weekend. The film is falling behind The Expendables with a 10-day total of $52.2 million, compared to the first film’s $65.4 million in its second week.
2. The Bourne Legacy
The fourth film in the Bourne franchise kept its number two spot this past weekend, but only added $9.34 million to its three week total. That brings the total domestic gross of The Bourne Legacy to $85.5 million. With that number, and at the rate the film is grossing, the spin-off/reboot doesn’t have a chance of coming anywhere to the franchise’s previous lowest grossing film, The Bourne Identity(with $121.7 million total)… (click link above to continue reading)
