5 Disney Films that Are Actually Horror Movies

Often while babysitting, I have the opportunity to witness kids’ Disney movies from a grown-up perspective. Now that I’m long over my obsession with pretty princesses, I’m able to see these stories more objectively — and I must say, some of them are pretty strange. Most people are aware that these Disney versions are based off of age-old fairytales, back when it was par for the course for bedtime stories to induce nightmares. Disney cleaned up the more gruesome elements (one version of Cinderellahas the stepsisters cutting off their heels so they’ll fit the slipper, and the original Little Mermaid suffered excruciating pain), but what’s left is still questionable content.  Here are my top five picks for the most twisted movies that are supposed to be classic childhood experiences
